Volunteer for BACK2Bikes

If you'd like to volunteer at BACK2Bikes, and have some time during weekdays, we'd love to train you in bike maintenance. Come along to the South Melbourne Commons on a Monday and talk to Mike King, or call on 0416 988 516.

The training is very much hands on, we will provide tuition and guideance as you need it. We'll give you a skills matrix to work through, so that you can track your progress, and make sure you have covered everything along the way.

We have all the tools you will need. We can advise you on what to buy if you would like to get your own tools.

Wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty, and please wear close toed footwear to protect your feet in the event of you dropping something, or accidentally stubbing your toes. Long hair should be tied up for safety. The South Melbourne Commons is a smoke free zone.

You'll be encouraged to refer to internet resources such as www.sheldonbrown.com, and various other internet sites that have tips and suggestions.

If you want to turn "pro", we'll send you along to Bicycle Training Australia, for a Cert II or Cert III course, www.bicycletrainingaustralia.com.au, you may be able to do some of the required practical hours with us, but that will need to be approved by BTA.
